Though we're in the throes of winter, spring will be here soon enough and you know what that means: the return of the bees!

Itā€™s the perfect time to introduce kids to the wonderful world of pollination and how these busy little insects help flowers bloom and thrive.

Through this fun, hands-on Bee Pollination STEAM activity, your little ones will learn all about teamworkā€”just like bees and flowers! They'll make their very own bee buddies and help them fly from flower to flower, delivering pollen and spreading the magic of springtime!

Supplies You'll Need:

1. Make Your Bee Buddy! šŸāœØ

Letā€™s get crafty! Start by making your adorable little bee! Take two yellow pom-poms and attach them together near the tip of a popsicle stick. Now grab a black chenille stem and cut it in half. Use one half to form the beeā€™s "body" between the two pom-poms, and the other half goes at the back to form the "tail." Twist the ends around the stick to keep everything in place, then bend them into four little legs that are perfect for collecting pollen!

2. Create Your Flowers šŸŒ¼šŸŒ·

Your bee buddy is ready, but now itā€™s time to make some flowers! Grab your colorful paper and scissors and cut out two large flower shapes. Place a small round container on one and a jar lid on the otherā€”these will be the flower centers (or pistils!). These will be where your bee gathers pollen from.

3. Letā€™s Make Some Pollen! šŸ§€šŸŒ¼

Time to ACHOO!Ā Create your pollen with something deliciousā€”cheese doodles! Empty a few into the small container and use your scissors to crush them into tiny flakes. These little bits will look just like pollen! How fun is that?

4. Help Your Bees Pollinate the Flowers! šŸŒøšŸ

Now that your bee and flowers are ready, itā€™s time for some pollination action! Dip your beeā€™s legs into the pollen you made, then fly your bee over to the jar lid (your flower center) to drop off the pollen. Keep flying from flower to flower until youā€™ve done a great job of helping the flowers grow! Want more fun? Make extra flowers and keep the pollination going!

The Nap Time Show is buzzing with fun learning opportunities, and this Bee Pollination STEAM activity is a fantastic way to teach kids about science, teamwork, and the magic of nature. Get ready to create, explore, and learn all while having a blast! āœ‚ļøšŸŽØ
